All companies need sales to sustain their operation and businesses. They need to get as many sales order as possible to ensure that they make profit to keep their businesses going.

A sales order is an important document to be received by any business to be fulfilled. A sales order is similar to a request of purchase by the sender to the recipient. The sales order will note the items of sales and the quantity as well as the pricing. There may be other types of information about each item of sale that can be listed on the sales order such as taxes, service fees, delivery charges and payment terms.

A sales order template may have the following information:

The sales order may also contain some terms and conditions to assist the vendor such as “Urgent – before <Date>”. There may be specific shipping instructions too. The recipient must adhere to the specific requirements on the sales order unless changes are agreed.

Purchase order Template

All companies need something; they may not be able to provide everything they need to run their business well. They will be required to make purchases from others, whom they call suppliers.

Hence, a purchase order is made out. A purchase order is statement of intention to purchase or procure some resources from another company. It should state specifically the items required, the quantity and the date required.

It is usually an order form submitted to the supplier who will fulfill the order accordingly, adding on the item price, taxes, service fees, delivery charges and payment terms. Sometimes, interest charges may be included if the payment is made using credit cards where a minimal percentage is accrued on the total cost. Other times, a discount is offered when the items are on sale, ex-stock or the customer is a regular patron.

Work Order Template

A work order is an important document for a business to receive, as it signifies the approval of the company requesting the job to be done. A work order lists the sections of task assigned and to be completed.

The work order would state the appointed company for the job as well as the description of each task with the objective and requirements. Each work section may have its cost and related charges listed to give a clearer understanding of the agreed job scope.

A work order template may record the following information:

The body of the work order template lists the information related to the different sections of task to be done.

The work order may record the charges differently, depending on the business policy as well as per agreed terms and conditions between the two parties. Usually there is no pricing mentioned in the work order as it should state the portion of task that is to be undertaken, with clear instructions. Each work portion can be given a deadline or identified timeframe so that the assigned work provider will be clear about the completion expectation. Many work order contracts do have formal agreements listing the stringent terms and conditions.
