Many industries employ a large number of staff for its operations, which could be on a 24/7 basis, such as factories, security, healthcare or governments. Hence, to facilitate the correct computation of salary, a time sheet is a useful tool for the company. With a time sheet, the employee’s work hours can be determined as well as monitored to ensure correct and fair payment of his services.
A time sheet is also frequently used in part-time employment of staff, where a staff is not on the full time payroll. It can be a temporary staff employed by the company to assist for a period of time, due to the busyness of the company at certain times of the year. It can also be staff employed to come in on certain days for a certain number of hours.
A time sheet records the basic information of an employee such as:
* Company Name
* Employee Name
* Employee Number
* Employee Title
* Employee Department
* Work Status
* Days of the week
* Start Work Time
* End Work Time
* Total hours
* Rate per hour/day
A time sheet template can be electronically designed where the computer system can read off the start and end work times to compute the total work hours.
It may include the overtime rate for computing extra payment if the work hours are outside the normal work hours.
Consider the attached sample template for your convenience.
